Checkered Stool - DIY Mackenzie-Child's

I've had so many emails about painting checks this week that I thought it might be easier to show you another post on how to do this.
This started out as a put together out of the box stool.  But you can paint an old bench that has already been painted too.
Paint the legs black and the top white.  If you have a large flat surface, you can use a pencil and ruler to mark out an even grid. This will help if the checks are already outlined.  Don't worry about being perfect.  It's the imperfection that makes it cute!  And you can go back with white paint and a small brush to clean it up.
You can minimize brush strokes by using a brush close to the same width of the checks.  Practice a bit before starting.
Lightly brush colors through your checks.
You can add little checks too!

It's not as hard as it looks.  Hope this helps.  Give it a try! Let me know if you have questions.
