Transforming An Old TV Hutch

I went looking around in my garage the other day and found a great piece to work on.

This is an old TV hutch that we had in our previous home.  I loved it's size, the warmth of the wood and it's utility... then. The problem is that she was used to hide the TV, when the TV was big and bulky.  Now with the streamlined flat screens, her purpose needs to change.  

I'm thinking that she could turn into a beautiful armoire with a few shelves built onto the stand already in place.  She has three working drawers too.  What do you think?  The wood stain on this isn't bad...and with the right home, she may not need to be painted.  But, we live at the beach and I'm thinking either a soft cream or maybe a driftwood grey with cream undertones. 

I'm waiting for some better painting weather but she is next on the list!

Fruit Of The Spirit - Patience

For the past several Tuesdays, I've been focusing on the "Fruit of the Spirit" to try to emulate more of each of them.  Today's fruit is patience.

Merriam Webster defines patience as "the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble or suffering without getting angry or upset."  Imagine what we might see and notice if we accept our delays and practice patience.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Painted Pepper Grinder

A friend bought this large green pepper grinder and asked me if I would paint it. Well, of course I will paint it.....cuz that's what I do!

Now this was painted in a glossy paint and I wasn't sure how and if my paint was going to stick.  So, I did a little sanding and a little priming.  Then I painted it all over in black.

 A few decorative touches and a final faux finish to complete it.  

Ya see....you can paint pretty much anything.  You just need the imagination of what something can become before it's painted.  Paint can transform anything you have in your home.  Even your pepper grinder.  :)
